We are researchers from the University of Warsaw, Poland, and we invite you to participate in a scientific study examining how people make moral decisions.
The experiment will take place in a virtual reality environment and will focus on how moral decisions are made.
After completing the training session, you will face a controversial moral dilemma presented in virtual reality. During this scenario, you will have to choose between two possible decisions. Please remember that the aim of the study is not to judge your individual attitudes or choices. There is no “correct” or “incorrect” solution to the moral dilemma. The VR portion of the study should take approximately 10–15 minutes.
All other necessary information will be provided at the beginning of the study.
Contraindications for participation include pregnancy and epilepsy. Only individuals without severe and uncorrected vision impairments (that cannot be corrected with contact lenses) are eligible. Additionally, there is a minimal risk of experiencing symptoms related to vestibular disorders, such as dizziness or nausea.
The study should be conducted in a properly prepared environment:
Additional recommendations:
Remember, participation is voluntary, and you have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty or explanation.
In order to run the study you need to be connected to the internet.
We provide two versions of the study.
You can download the executable and run the experiment on your device. We provide
executables for Windows operating systems. To run it, you need to download and execute the
VRM_ONLINE_STANDARD.exe
file. This is preferable option, as it should work best on a
wide variety of devices.
After you run the executable, you will be informed that the application is not signed. On this screen you need to click "More info" and then choose the option to run the app.
We also provide an online version that can be run from your browser if you have a headset connected to your PC and use a compatible browser such as Google Chrome (preferred), Microsoft Edge, or Safari. It should work with most headsets. After loading the page, you will be asked to allow headset permissions in your browser. The simulation will begin once you click the "Enter VR" button on the webpage.
If the executable or browser option does not load (or takes a very long time to load), you need to add the
.exe
file to the application via Steam by following these steps:
VRM_ONLINE_STANDARD.exe
file
is
located.
VRM_ONLINE_STANDARD.exe
file and click “Open”.
If you encountered any problems with the online browser version, please try downloading the executable. We cannot guarantee that all browsers are compatible with the online version.
If you experience any problems with the simulation, please contact us immediately via Reddit.
